Ditch Or Download #3: Boot's App For Android

The Boot's app is quite a new release for both Android and iOS, and on the Android operating system, I'm having mixed views about it. A lot of other users have been having issues logging into the app at all, and although I personally have not experienced this, I feel that the app can take a little longer than I would like to load things. Despite its slowness, the navigation buttons are well-sized, unlike some apps with which great touch-screen precision is required to get around the app.

It’s often good to get the magazine from stores or brands you buy from often. For example, the Boot’s magazine usually has coupons in the back, as do many others.

Tip #02: Boot’s Treat Street

You can earn Boot’s points by shopping online in lots of different places (e.g. Accessorize, Dorothy Perkins, and many more). All you need to do is go online shopping through the Boot’s Treat Street portal by clicking on a store from this list and then clicking the ‘Shop Now!’ button. Although you can’t spend Boot’s points on these sites, you can still save money by earning a few pennies back here and there on what you’re buying.

I would also recommend downloading the Boot’s Treat Street Toolbar, which is hassle-free and notifies you if you’re on a site offering Boot’s points. You even earn 100 Boot’s points just for installing the toolbar! Information on how to do so can be found here.

Tip #01: Loyalty Cards

Boot’s and Superdrug offer loyalty card schemes which can help you to save money by paying back a little everytime you make a purchase. There are often extra perks to loyalty cards such as Boot’s coupons for advantage card holders, and other exclusive deals.

Places such as Subway and Waterstone’s also offer loyalty cards - so if you’re saving money with them, you have more to spend on your beauty and fashion!!

Sophie's Daily Skincare Routine

In the morning, I start off with my Garnier PureActive Exfobrush Face Wash (1) to cleanse my skin, as the rubber brush gently exfoliates my skin. After rinsing it off and patting my skin dry with a towel, I move on to moisturise using my Soap & Glory Feel Good Factor Translucent BB Cream (2) as it has SPF 25 to protect my skin from the sun and my Soap & Glory Make Yourself Youthful Eye Cream (3) under my eyes as it seems to have a brightening effect. Finally I moisturise my lips using the Cocoa Butter Vaseline (4) before leaving my skin for 10 minutes for everything to soak in before applying my make-up.

In the evening I first remove my makeup using the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (5) or the L’Oreal Skin Perfecting Micellar Solution (6) (as personally I feel they do the exact same thing, but I buy whichever is cheapest at the time as they are often on offer) using two or three Boot's Cotton Wool Pads (7) I like using these cotton pads as they have a light surfaced side for removing eye makeup and a more textured surfaced side that can be used to lightly exfoliate foundation off the skin. I then use my Garnier PureActive Exfobrush Face Wash (1) to cleanse my skin, as the rubber brush gently exfoliates my skin. After cleansing my skin I moisturise using the Soap & Glory Beauty Sleep Accelerator Night Cream (8) all over my face and neck with the Soap & Glory Make Yourself Youthful Eye Cream under my eyes. I also use the Soap & Glory Dr Spot (9) on any blemishes I have and finally finish off with my Cocoa Butter Vaseline (4) all over my lips.

As a little extra, once a week I use the Soap & Glory No Clogs Allowed Deep Pore Detox Mask (10) after removing my makeup as my weekly face mask to help clear my skin.

Boot's 4-way nail buffer block

We’ve all had that moment, where our nail file decides to snap in half and you’re left to rub a pathetic little stump of nail file over your jagged nail. And many of you will know the pain of one side being too rough, and the other side not rough enough. Well, worry no more because there is a solution, for just £2! The 4-way buffer block from Boot’s.

My one criticism of the buffer block is that the ‘dust’ from it can get a little annoying, especially on side 1, and you’d need to sweep that off after filing every couple of nails. But other than that, it’s a seriously great product!

The buffer block has 4 different sides, each with varying textures so you can find the perfect texture for the purpose. And it even helps you along with that, with printed-on instructions as to what each side was created for. With this, you can ‘file the nail edge’, ‘remove ridges’, ‘smooth the nail’, or ‘shine the nail’.

Another great thing to say about the buffer block is that if you tend to get dry or rough skin on your fingers, it works a treat at gently filing your skin back into smoothness, with you having a choice of 4 textures, unlike with most nail files.

And of course, due to its shape – you’d have a hard time accidentally snapping it!
